The 2013 Quinta Da Leda (Casa Ferreirinha) is the new offering here, a blend of 70% Touriga Franca, 15% Touriga Nacional, 10% Tinto Cão and 5% Tinta Roriz, aged in French oak for 18 months (50% new and 50% second year). This bottling isn't exactly cheap, but considering the number of upper level wines in the stable here, this a terrific value point in the high-end part of the lineup. It may well have been my favorite of Sogrape's submissions this issue. This is another fine year for Leda. If it is not quite as rich and intensely flavorful as, say, the 2009, it might also be far more refined and fresher. Compared to some of the other high-end wines here, it shows far more purity (and less oak). The crisp demeanor gives it a juicy and fresher feel. It also shows very fine concentration, focus and serious structure. It is built to age. Beautifully constructed, this is another 2013 that demonstrates how many fine wines (in some places) came from this somewhat tricky vintage.
