Most of the wine produced in this area is fortified sweet wine, and the 2012 Kerbuccio is from the newly created appellation of Maury Sec, which is a classification above Cotes du Roussillon Villages. From pure black schist soils, this blend of 40% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre and 30% Grenache aged in concrete offers wonderful flowery notes (violets) intermixed with melted chocolate, kirsch and a hint of Provencal garrigue. Full-bodied, rich, deep and totally dry, this is a seriously endowed, fleshy, full-throttle red to drink over the next 3-4 years.
